Movie Park Germany has lifted the curtain on its newest blockbuster addition, Journey to the Forbidden Chamber, an exclusive Paramount Pictures attraction set to open in mid-May 2026.
The attraction, which serves as a centerpiece for the park's 30th anniversary celebrations, aims to bring the authentic atmosphere of the Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles directly to European audiences.
A Return to Cinematic Roots
The new experience replaces The Lost Temple and marks a strategic return to the park’s identity as "Hollywood in Germany". By partnering with Paramount Pictures, the park is linking its 1996 origins - specifically the classic Movie Magic attraction - with a modern studio experience.
Managing Director, Thorsten Backhaus, said:
“In addition to our existing licensed attractions based on well-known movies and series, we are now very proud to integrate one of the world's most famous studios into the park. Paramount is not only synonymous with spectacular cinematography and numerous event film productions... they are a flagship of Hollywood itself, which ties in perfectly with Movie Park's identity.”

The Story: A Day on Set
The attraction places guests in the role of film extras during an "open casting call" in Studio 16. Guided by fictional director Emma Hoffman, visitors join stars Astrid Schneider and Banner Jenkins on the set of a new adventure film.
The experience includes:
- The Paramount Archway: A new 5-metre-high landmark welcoming guests at the attraction entrance.
- Immersive Sets: Guests move through various production stages, including an excavation site and a "spirit chamber".
- The Forbidden Chamber: A high-action finale featuring a two-and-a-half-minute film produced by Paramount in Hollywood, combined with a moving stage and multimedia effects.
- The Paramount Showroom: A post-show area featuring original costumes, a screening theatre for trailers, and photo opportunities with an original studio caddy from the Los Angeles lot.
Technical Upgrades and Partnerships
The 2,500m2 space has undergone over 18 months of redesign. Based on guest feedback, the park has transitioned the main film sequence from 3D to a 2D format, removing the need for glasses to ensure a more comfortable and accessible viewing experience.
To ensure authenticity, the park collaborated with several industry leaders:
- P&P Projects: Handled the creation of sets and props, utilising over 10,000 kg of material.
- Simworks & Bentin Projects: Managed the simulation systems, technology, and special effects.
- IMAmotion: Developed the video mapping for the pre-show, which features laser and fire effects.
The film sequences were shot on the actual Paramount lot in Hollywood, featuring German-speaking actors cast specifically for the project to maintain the attraction's "authentic film character".
