On April 5th, 2025, Walibi Holland officially launched its boldest attraction yet: YOY, the world’s first duelling single-rail coasters from Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC). And what a launch it was!
From the moment we arrived, it was clear Walibi wasn’t holding back. A lively plaza came to life with themed performers, water and pyrotechnic effects, and an array of food and drink worthy of a festival. The energy peaked during a spectacular 360° opening sequence: surrounding coasters Goliath, Condor, and Xpress: Platform 13 were dispatched in choreographed unison, fireworks lit the sky, and both YOY coasters launched with synchronized bursts of colourful smoke. Pure theatrical brilliance.
But YOY is far from just a flashy debut. These rides absolutely deliver.

The Concept
YOY is split into two distinct experiences: YOY CHILL and YOY THRILL. Each side features a completely unique layout — this isn’t a standard mirrored or parallel racing coaster. The two coasters share a station and lift hill before veering into cleverly intertwined routes. Along the way, they duel through a series of near-miss elements, creating exhilarating 'almost touching' moments that are just as thrilling for riders as they are visually for onlookers.
-
YOY CHILL: Don’t be fooled by the name. YOY CHILL skips the inversions but keeps the speed and intensity. With sharp transitions, tight corners, and the same 29-metre height as its sibling, CHILL is a masterclass in non-inverting thrills — perfect for families or anyone not ready to go upside-down.
-
YOY THRILL: Six inversions, high-speed turns, and a layout that pulls up to 4Gs. You will be flipped, rolled, and launched through its 655 metres at 80 km/h. Expect a Top Gun Stall and other dynamic manoeuvres that make THRILL a must for adrenaline junkies.

Riding Both Sides
During two exclusive hours with YOY, we tested front, middle, and back seats on both sides. Each offers a distinctly different ride:
-
Front row gives a clear, unobstructed view — the sensation of flying through the circuit with nothing ahead or either side of you, arms up and out, is incredible.
-
Back row amps up the chaos, whipping riders through the layout with unexpected force for peak airtime! You also get a splendid view of the trains snaking their way through the courses.
-
Middle seats are arguably the most fun for interactions — positioned perfectly for those signature 'duel' moments when riders on both tracks stretch out their arms, creating the illusion of almost touching.
There’s no 'best' side. Both are sensational in their own right. But there is one truth: ride one, and you’ll immediately want to ride the other.

Design & Theming
Thematically, YOY contrasts water (CHILL) and plant life (THRILL), subtly conveyed through design elements — the highlight being a sculptural tree at the entrance. While the theming is minimalist by some standards, the coaster’s kinetic energy more than compensates.
YOY also has the distinction of being:
-
Europe’s tallest, fastest, and steepest duelling single-rail coasters
-
The world’s first RMC Raptors to duel
-
The world’s most inversions on a single-rail coaster (on the THRILL side)
Behind the scenes, the numbers impress: 1,135 million litres of concrete, 150,000 kg of steel, and over 10 km of electrical cabling went into the build.

Extras & Final Thoughts
The new YOY area of the park includes a waterfront terrace, Flavors, offering food and drinks with a view of nearby rides like Goliath and Xpress: Platform 13. While there’s no on-ride photo or dedicated shop, YOY merchandise is available at the main store. Invited attendees were gifted an awesome custom hoodie, personalized with each guest’s name on the sleeve.
Having previously attended the opening of UNTAMED, another brilliant RMC ride and Europe’s first hybrid roller coaster, it’s clear that Walibi Holland intends to continue pushing boundaries. YOY isn’t just a pair of new coasters — it’s a statement of ambition.
Walibi Holland is just an hour from Amsterdam, making it an easy trip for locals and international visitors alike. Jump on a plane, hop in a car, and get yourself some joy!
