Walibi Rhône-Alpes is a French theme park, the largest theme park in the Rhône-Alpes region, containing more than 33 rides and covering an area of 35 hectares.

This beautiful theme park features three themed areas (Festival City, Exotic Island and Explorer Adventure) each with a headline roller coaster (Mystic, MAHUKA and Timber). We were fortunate be able to experience all three headline roller coasters during the day, and again in the dark at night.

Following an ambitious 10-year investment programme, in 2024 Walibi Rhône-Alpes celebrates the 45th anniversary of Avenir Land (the park's original name) with the opening of Europe's first single-rail roller coaster, MAHUKA.

Our visit on August 24 for Nocturnes EstiWAAAles provided us with 12 hours of fun and thrills, and was the perfect first time at the park.

The highlights of each themed area:

Exotic Island

Explore an exotic world that is both heavenly and mysterious! Lush vegetation, forgotten temples... You have just arrived on the Pacific islands. A change of scenery or an adventure? Maybe a bit of both... It's up to you to discover it!

Headline attraction: MAHUKA – an Intamin 'Hot Racer' single-rail roller coaster – opened in 2024.

Secondary attractions: AirBoat – a Zamperla 'NebulaZ' ride and Tiki Academy – an interactive water ride.

Festival City

Discover the festive atmosphere of New Orleans! Wild parties with jazzy music, incantations from the famous Dr. Mystic and colourful attractions... Festival City will not fail to surprise you!

Headline attraction: Mystic – a Gerstlauer 'Infinity Coaster' – opened in 2019.

Secondary attractions: Le Totem – a 55 metre tall S&S 'Space Shot' drop tower ride and Hurricane – a 50 metre tall Zamperla 'Star Flyer' swing tower ride.

Explorer Adventure

Travel back in time to the era of the Old West! Between chainsaws of loggers, clicking of picks and detonations in the heart of the mine, North America calls you! Follow in the footsteps of the first gold prospectors and trappers.

Headline attraction: Timber – a wooden roller coaster by The Gravity Group – opened in 2016.

Secondary attractions: Generator – a thrilling Vekoma 'Boomerang' roller coaster, Woodstock Express – a Zamperla 'Zig Zag' family roller coaster and La Coccinelle – a Zierer junior roller coaster.

Live Entertainment

The summer season also marks the return of the show Le Pouvoir de Gaïa, which combines quad stunts and special effects, while the Les Plongeurs de l'Extrême divers continue to defy gravity with humour.

Nocturnes EstiWAAAles

For party lovers, Nocturnes EstiWAAAles extends the festivities until 10pm on August 3, 10, 17 and 24.

In the spirit of New Orleans, visitors enjoy a musical and colourful atmosphere thanks to a live Jazz Band roaming the park. To end in style, the park delivers a magnificent fireworks display above MAHUKA.

What sets Walibi Rhône-Alpes apart from many parks of a similar size, is the really impressive theming and presentation of the park. Every area looks fresh and well cared for.

The food options are excellent, especially the Quai 38 restaurant, complete with paddle steamer themed dining areas. There are delicious treats available across the park, but here a full 3-course meal with beer and wine is available.

Our tickets were provided by Walibi Rhône-Alpes for the purpose of this review. 1-day tickets start at €33 per person, when purchased online.
