Movie Park Germany is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2021 with a big surprise for its visitors, a brand new Multi Dimension Coaster from Intamin Amusement Rides.

It will be the first double-launch indoor roller coaster in Europe, Germany's first multi-directional roller coaster and also the first indoor roller coaster in Europe to accelerate backwards.

The new family-friendly roller coaster will include a 360-degree rotating platform, numerous sound and special effects, plus multimedia elements.

Other examples of a Multi Dimension Coaster in Europe include TH13TEEN at Alton Towers and Inferno at Cinecittà World.

Thorsten Backhaus, Managing Director of Movie Park Germany:

“The 25th anniversary of Movie Park Germany is an important milestone in our park history. That is why we would like to give our visitors a special gift. Families with children are our main target group, and our regular surveys have shown that our guests want a new family attraction without inversions, which is convincing with good theming and a storyline. As a film amusement park, we don't want to miss out on some Hollywood-style action. This is ensured by an interesting route and numerous multimedia effects. "

The new roller coaster and its special features

The new attraction at Movie Park Germany will be a Multi Dimension Coaster from Intamin Amusement Rides. The location is the 3,800 m² 'sound stage' building that previously housed the Ice Age Adventure attraction and the horror house Wrong Turn. This means that the new attraction is also close to the popular Nickland family area.

The set is ready, all guests are in position? Then it's time to hold on and action! At up to 60 km / h, visitors rush along a 532 meter long route. The roller coaster only sees the light of day for a short time and leads the guests in a wide arc around the entrance area, before heading inside. With three trains and 12 seats per train, the theoretical capacity of the new attraction will be 900 people per hour.

With a total of two LSM launch elements, shortly after the start of the journey, guests are suddenly accelerated backwards and then - after having changed direction - forwards in their film-ready Hollywood adventure. A special moment will be the integrated rotating platform with a new 360-degree rotating switch that changes the direction of travel for visitors before they continue at full throttle.

The manufacturer Intamin Amusement Rides

Intamin Amusement Rides has already built over 200 roller coasters worldwide: “In the past, Movie Park Germany had very good experiences with Intamin. With 'The High Fall', 'Excalibur' and 'Area 51' we already have three attractions from Intamin in our park portfolio. Some of these are among our most popular rides. We are therefore very happy to work with such a renowned partner for our new major project and to offer our guests the next attraction blockbuster” said Thorsten Backhaus. "Intamin is excited and proud to be working with Movie Park Germany on this innovative project and we look forward to a great collaboration" says the Swiss-Liechtenstein company.

Special effects and multimedia for an immersive experience

So that visitors can immerse themselves directly in another world, numerous special effects and multimedia elements are added to create a perfect combination of dark ride and roller coaster for the attraction. Large screens, plasma screens, sound effects and wind machines, integrated into Hollywood-style backdrops, will ensure an immersive experience and allow the visitor to immerse themselves directly in a new world. The trains will have on-board sound, which makes music and noises even more intense.

The next steps

The first support and track elements will be delivered from the end of October and construction work will begin in the large building. The multi-dimension roller coaster has been in the conception phase for more than 1.5 years. The planning for the theming and design was also in full swing in order to present the guests with a suitable storyline. This is still top secret.

“We are very happy to be able to offer the whole family an exciting overall experience with our new attraction. The storyline is also interesting for young and old and is accompanied by a detailed design. What we can already reveal thematically: The visitors will be whisked away even more strongly than before into the world of the famous Hollywood Studios and the 'Movie Park Germany' brand will be further strengthened. The new coaster fits perfectly with the park's DNA and our motto 'Hollywood in Germany'" said project and marketing manager Manuel Prossotowicz.

More information on the theming, storyline and many other details of the project will follow shortly.

The opening is planned for Spring 2021.
