Belantis theme park in Leipzig, Germany, has opened its new themed area, Idefix' Abenteuerland (Idefix’s Adventure Land).
The grand opening marks the first major milestone in a long-term strategic master plan to completely transform the park into Asterix Park Germany by 2030/31.
Headed up by park operators Compagnie des Alpes (CDA), the €5 million development is designed specifically to appeal to families with younger children. The new immersive zone features four brand-new rides, a large custom-designed adventure playground, and regular meet-and-greet opportunities with iconic comic book characters Asterix and Obelix.
A Grand Gaulish Opening
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in front of local politicians, media, and partners, accompanied by a large group of local children. The event was attended by costume characters Asterix, Obelix, and a real-life dog representing Idefix.
A particularly poignant moment for the park was the attendance of Anne Goscinny, daughter of the legendary René Goscinny, who co-created the beloved Asterix universe alongside illustrator Albert Uderzo.
"It is touching to see how the world of Asterix and Idefix is now coming to life here for families and children," said Anne Goscinny during the opening ceremony.

Filip de Witte, Managing Director of Belantis, emphasised the scale of the announcement:
"Idefix’s Adventure Land marks the start of a new chapter for Belantis. Today’s opening represents not only a new themed world, but also the start of a long-term development programme through which we will continue to transform the park step by step over the coming years."
Other notable figures at the launch included François Fassier, Director of the Amusement Park Division at Compagnie des Alpes; Guy Vassel, Managing Director of France's famous Parc Astérix; Burkhard Jung, Mayor of Leipzig; and German presenter and singer Uta Bresan, who has been named the official patron of the new land.
The Road to Asterix Park Germany
Compagnie des Alpes acquired Belantis in April 2025 and has since spent the last year solidifying its long-term investment strategy. The ultimate goal is to establish the site as Germany's leading Asterix-themed leisure destination over the next five years.
Germany represents one of the largest and most lucrative international markets for the Asterix comic books, making the intellectual property a natural fit for a regional park expansion. Working in close partnership with copyright holders Les Éditions Albert René, CDA will systematically introduce new themed areas, updated infrastructure, and modernised guest experiences across the entire park footprint.
Management has already confirmed that the next phase of development is well underway, with a major new family roller coaster scheduled to open at the park in 2027.
