Tayto Park in Ireland has secured planning permission for two new Vekoma roller coasters.

Combining both a suspended coaster and a boomerang coaster, this will be a major expansion to the theme park near Dublin. Construction will take place during 2021 ready for the 2023 opening.

The roller coasters, which represent a total investment of €15 million by the park, will create 40 new jobs in the area.

Raymond Coyle, founder of Tayto Park, said:

“Today is a very exciting day for Tayto Park and Co. Meath. This is the largest single investment in our history! We currently employ 420 people and not only will the new coasters add employment to the local economy, they are securing the future of the park".

The new suspended coaster (the larger of the two) will be 32 metres tall, the same height as the park’s Cú Chulainn wooden coaster.

They will have a total combined track length of approximately 972 metres (a 728 metre suspended coaster and a 244 metre boomerang coaster).

It is hoped that the new rides will help increase visitor numbers to the theme park by 15% from 630,000 in 2019 to 725,000 in 2023.

Tayto Park is located just 30 minutes from Dublin and it's the only major theme park in Ireland. It has a variety of rides and attractions for thrill seekers and families.

Highlights include the Cú Chulainn wooden coaster, Viking Voyage water flume and various thrill rides such as The Rotator, Air Race and Power Surge.
