We were invited to Plopsaland Deutschland for their Grand Opening 2026, an event marked by first-rate hospitality, the debut of a major new coaster, 100% Wolf, and another step towards the park becoming a premier multi-day destination.
Walking through the gates, it’s clear that the €150 million investment plan by the Plopsa Group is hitting its stride. The transition from the classic Holiday Park to Plopsaland Deutschland feels complete, blending nostalgic favourites like the legendary bigFM Expedition GeForce (celebrating its 25th birthday this June) with a fresh, character-driven energy.
The Grand Opening event was a festive celebration filled with live music, the Plopsa Festival Parade, and appearances by Studio 100 characters like Maya the Bee, Vic the Viking, and the Smurfs. The park feels more vibrant and family-oriented than ever, setting the stage for its future as a multi-day resort destination.

A VIP Welcome
The day began at the main entrance VIP reception, where the Plopsa team demonstrated their signature welcome. Armed with an express pass and a VIP badge, we joined the crowd for the 9:30 AM opening ceremony.
The hospitality peaked at noon in the new 100% Wolf area. Bernd Beitz (Director Germany, Plopsa Group) and Carl Lenaerts (CEO, Plopsa Group) delivered passionate speeches outlining the vision for the park. The message was clear: this is just the beginning of a €150 million investment phase.
The atmosphere was electric, bolstered by a live broadcast from Radio RPR1, ensuring that the buzz of the opening was felt far beyond the park’s borders.
At 1:00 PM, the moment arrived. The 100% Wolf family roller coaster was christened with a spectacular display of daytime fireworks, perfectly timed to explode along the track as the first train rushed past.
After the inaugural ride, the celebration moved to the nearby Beach Bar for cocktails. A fitting end to a celebratory debut.

The 100% Wolf Experience
The undisputed star of the 2026 season is the 100% Wolf family roller coaster. Based on the hit animated film and series, this Gerstlauer-manufactured coaster is a masterclass in all-generation thrills.
The ride is beautifully integrated into a new themed area. From the moment you enter the queue, you are immersed in the world of Freddy Lupin, the heir to a proud family of werewolves who (to his surprise!) turns into a poodle.
Don't let the 'family' label fool you. While it’s accessible to children as small as 1.00m tall, the 760-metre track is packed with surprises.
The ride features a unique switch track that sends the train into a sudden backward section. The grand finale is a dramatic vertical spike, where the train climbs toward the sky before plunging back down.
100% Wolf is exactly what Plopsaland Deutschland needed. For years, the park has had a 'missing middle'. You had the very gentle Tabalugas Achterbahn or the extreme forces of Expedition GeForce and Sky Scream.
This new Gerstlauer model bridges that gap perfectly. It’s accessible for families but provides enough bite to satisfy thrill-seekers. The smooth tracking and nimble transitions reflect the high-quality engineering we’ve come to expect from this manufacturer.

Beyond the Coaster
The attention to detail extends to the retail experience. The gift shop is already fully stocked with 100% Wolf merchandise. I spotted everything from high-quality plush toys of Freddy Lupin to jigsaws, magnets, mugs and water bottles. Clear evidence that Plopsa is leaning hard into its rich library of Studio 100 IPs.
Freddy also makes an apperance in the Plopsa Festival Parade, along with the other live entertainment at the park, including the Plopsa Festival Finale.
Meanwhile, over at the Plopsa Experience Center, you can see concept art, a scale model, and a virtual simulation of the new coaster.

Final Verdict
Plopsaland Deutschland has successfully bridged the gap between its Majaland coaster and its world-class thrill machines. 100% Wolf is the perfect family coaster.
Located just 75 minutes from Frankfurt Airport, Plopsaland is easily accessible to international travellers.
With the upcoming Tomorrowland-themed roller coaster and a Plopsaqua water park on the way in 2028, as well as a new hotel planned to follow, this park will no longer be just a day trip. It’s becoming a premier European destination.
