Duinrell has announced the upcoming opening of Duinrell Drifter, a brand-new interactive attraction set to debut at the park in the Netherlands.

Duinrell Drifter introduces a new hands-on ride experience where guests are not just passengers, but active participants, on an attraction featuring nine rally-style vehicles with a control lever that allows riders to influence the spinning and drifting motion of their vehicle, meaning no two rides are exactly the same.

The new ride reaches a top speed of 21.6 km/h and is designed to be accessible to a wide audience. With a minimum height requirement of 100 cm, Duinrell Drifter is suitable for families while still offering enough unpredictability and movement to appeal to teenagers and adults.

Interactive Fun with Themed Character

Adding a playful narrative element to the attraction is Rick de Drift, the ride’s fictional drift master. According to Duinrell, Rick represents control, courage and timing, encouraging riders to find the perfect balance between calm steering and daring spins as they take on the ride.

While the attraction is not heavily themed, the character branding and interactive nature help give Duinrell Drifter a clear identity within the park’s lineup.

Strengthening the Park’s Attraction Mix

Duinrell Drifter will be located among a cluster of popular rides, reinforcing Duinrell’s focus on attractions that combine family accessibility with repeat ride value. The interactive element is expected to make the attraction especially appealing during busy periods, as guests experiment with different riding styles to change their experience.

The addition of Duinrell Drifter continues Duinrell’s strategy of investing in attractions that emphasise participation and replayability rather than pure thrill or spectacle.

Soon After Roller Coaster Announcement

The news of Duinrell Drifter’s arrival follows closely on the heels of another major development for the park in 2026. Earlier this year, we detailed the announcement of Kikker8baan, a new roller coaster that puts a fresh spin on a Dutch classic while bringing a next-generation coaster experience to Duinrell.

The proximity of these two announcements highlights Duinrell’s busy development plan for the coming season, with both attractions playing a part in broadening the park’s appeal.
