The new Global Attractions and Attendance Report is the thirteenth annual collaboration between the Themed Entertainment Association and AECOM.
It identifies the most visited theme parks and water parks around the world, including Europe's Top 20.
Disneyland Park (9.8 million) and Walt Disney Studios Park (5.3 million) at Disneyland Paris, France, both had a good year with an increase of 1.9% to each, but the latter dropped down a place in the table.
Europa-Park in Germany saw a modest increase of 0.4% but it remains the second most visited theme park in Europe with 5.7 million visitors.
There was great success for Efteling in the Netherlands which saw a 4.2% boost, hitting 5.4 million and moving up to third place.
The largest year-on-year growth was seen at Parque Warner Madrid which received 2.2 million visitors, an 18.8% increase, moving up from 16th to 13th place. Elsewhere in Spain, PortAventura Park remained static with 3.6 million visitors.
Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark, achieved growth of 4.5% to reach 4.9 million. Liseberg in Gothenburg, Sweden, lost only 0.2% so remained on 3 million.
The success of launching Peppa Pig Land at Gardaland contributed to an 11.5% increase, rebounding to 2.9 million.
In the UK, LEGOLAND Windsor remains the nation's most visited theme park with 2.3 million visitors, a 2.9% increase, while the opening of Wicker Man at Alton Towers fuelled a 10.5% surge to 2.1 million. Thorpe Park managed 1.9 million (up 7.4%) and Chessington World of Adventures hit 1.7 million (up 9.9%).
LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark and Puy du Fou in France both finished on 2.3 million visitors with increases of 2.3% and 2% respectively.
Parc Asterix near Paris, France, continued to grow for another successive year, with a further increase of 8.7% to 2.2 million visitors.
Germany's third most visited park Phantasialand reached the 2 million visitor milestone, with a 0.4% increase.
Futuroscope in France dropped by a significant -7.5% to settle on 1.9 million.
There was only a small -0.8% dip at Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden, with 1.7 million visitors.
Heide Park in Germany has dropped out of the top 20, due to LEGOLAND Deutschland joining the list on 2.3 million visitors.
