Movie Park Germany has revealed the theme for their new Multi Dimension Coaster opening in 2021. Visitors will enter Movie Park Studios for a studio tour through movie scenes and sets.
It will be the first double-launch indoor roller coaster in Europe, Germany's first multi-directional roller coaster and also the first indoor roller coaster in Europe to accelerate backwards.
The new family-friendly roller coaster will include a 360-degree rotating platform, numerous sound and special effects, plus multimedia elements.
Other examples of a Multi Dimension Coaster in Europe include TH13TEEN at Alton Towers and Inferno at Cinecittà World.
Thorsten Backhaus, Managing Director of Movie Park Germany:
“The 25th anniversary of Movie Park Germany is an important milestone in our park history. That is why we would like to give our visitors a special gift. Families with children are our main target group, and our regular surveys have shown that our guests want a new family attraction without inversions, which is convincing with good theming and a storyline. As a film amusement park, we don't want to miss out on some Hollywood-style action. This is ensured by an interesting route and numerous multimedia effects. "
The storyline for a Hollywood adventure that is ready for a film
Visitors will pass through a studio gate based on the iconic studios in Los Angeles, the new landmark of the themed area. In addition to a lavishly designed waiting area, film and amusement park fans can look forward to a suitable preshow that will take them straight into the world of stars and starlets.
During a spectacular roller coaster studio tour, guests immerse themselves directly in the background of the film production. From the film archive to the special effects and sound departments, the new coaster allows you to ride through a total of 12 different scenes that are reminiscent of well-known film scenes. In order to do justice to the style of the dazzling Hollywood Studios in California, the station of the new indoor coaster will be built in typical Art Deco style. A new Studio Tour logo was also developed for the attraction.
Visitors will not only experience the excitement of a ride that reaches 60 km/h, but also immerse themselves in the history of Germany's largest studio-themed park.
Manuel Prossotowicz, Director Marketing & Sales and Brand Development:
"With the new Multi Dimension Coaster we want to further strengthen the 'Movie Park Germany' brand and position ourselves even more specifically as a film park. At the same time, we also take our guests back to the park's past in order to make Movie Park Studios a more real experience. Long-term park visitors can look forward to numerous Easter Eggs to be discovered."
Elements of some previous attractions, such as the former 'Gremlins Invasion' ride, the 'Cop Car Chase' roller coaster and the 'Movie Magic Studios' attraction will be integrated into the new Studio Tour roller coaster. Blueprints for the former studios on the Movie Park site, where films have previously been shot, and old footage of many park highlights, have been collected and compiled for the new roller coaster. However, new Hollywood-related experiences are also created for the whole family. Among other things, new characters, which are created for a wide target audience, will accompany and entertain visitors on their adventure in Movie Park Studios.
The directors and VIP partners of the new Hollywood adventure
With P&P Projects, the park is bringing an international creative partner to the set of the new attraction, that specializes in the design of theme-related, immersive experiences for the leisure industry. The team has worked for numerous key players such as Universal, Disney, Europa-Park, Efteling and Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. The team of experts also produces all special effects as well as animated characters and, with its extensive expertise in the areas of theming, animated characters, props, audio-video.
Movie Park Germany's project team, as well as IMAscore and IMAmotion, have all played major roles in the creative concept behind the roller coaster. IMAscore is developing the music and sound effects, and IMAmotion has taken on the main role for multimedia and special effects. Movie Park Germany has engaged the renowned Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra and a 40-member choir for recordings that create the right atmosphere for the attraction.
The park also worked with Dutch experts from the Leisure Expert Group for further development of the project and for the design. The Amsterdam-based company has previously been entrusted with the design for the new PAW Patrol themed area Adventure Bay, which opened in 2019, and the redesign of Excalibur - Secrets of the Dark Forest, which came to life in 2018.
The opening scenes - development of the new attraction
At the start of the conception phase 1.5 years ago, it was decided that the Hollywood theme should come to the fore with the new 2021 attraction, in order to put the central theme of the film and amusement park in the limelight.
Last year, the Movie Park Germany creative team travelled to the Hollywood studios in California in order to guarantee the authenticity of the new Multi Dimension Coaster and to be able to implement the studio theme as realistically as possible.
The new indoor coaster without inversions is suitable for the whole family and at the same time promises thrilling action like in Hollywood. The concept of a themed ride (dark ride) and roller coaster with two acceleration sections forwards and backwards as well as a 360-degree rotating platform ensure an immersive experience with multimedia elements. With its theme and many interesting route elements, the new Hollywood attraction also appeals to young people and becomes an attraction for different generations.
Construction of the blockbuster attraction started in October when the first supports and track elements were delivered. In the next few weeks, the station of the attraction will be set up and the first theming elements will be delivered. Fresh news from 'Hollywood in Germany' can be found regularly on the park's social media channels. All progress on the construction is also documented there.
The opening is planned for Spring 2021.
