Walibi Rhône-Alpes will mark the 45th anniversary of the park with the opening of new roller coaster Mahuka.
Unique in Europe, it will be the very first Hot Racer roller coaster from Intamin Amusement Rides in the region, featuring an innovative single rail design.
Mahuka will join one of the three thematic universes at the park, Exotic Island, and will invite visitors to step into the shoes of archaeologists discovering an abandoned temple on an island in the South Pacific.
Already highly anticipated, this new attraction is part of a broader investment plan, presented in 2015 and designed with a view to theming and modernising the park. In total, the park will have spent nearly 50 million euros over 10 years on its transformation by adding new attractions, new restaurants, the creation of three immersive thematic universes, and the modernisation of various infrastructure for its visitors but also its employees, to establish itself as one of the essential theme parks in France.
The new Mahuka attraction is an integral part of the investments made in the development of the Exotic Island thematic universe, during this anniversary season. More than 10 million euros is being spent the development of this area in 2024, including the construction of the attraction, its assembly, scenography, the greening of the space and the creation of new restaurant Tiki Fruits, which will complete it.
Apart from the investments linked to the construction of the attraction, manufactured by the company Intamin, 79% of the investment envelope was entrusted to local companies, in particular for all of the structural work and project management (assembly, green space foundations, control offices, music, etc).
Through Mahuka ('escape' in Hawaiian), brave visitors are invited to enter the heart of the remains of an abandoned temple, erected in honour of the God of Fire on an isolated island in the South Pacific... but be careful not to provoke the sacred fire of this God, at the risk of being a prisoner of the temple. Escape the site, escape your fears, once you take a seat on the ride, there will be no more escape from experiencing new sensations!
This brand new experience promises its share of thrills, thanks to a unique layout, specially designed for Walibi Rhône-Alpes. Intended for the most daring, this attraction has two powered launches, sending the trains to a maximum speed of 67 km/h, on a layout promising no less than 13 moments of weightlessness, or airtime.
With trains with individual seats, visitors will be able to enjoy the experience without anyone sitting to either side, providing a unique sensation. Also, the thrills are not only reserved for adults, as this attraction will be accessible to children from 120 cm, i.e. aged 6 to 7 years old, on average.
