Parc Astérix has announced that Tonnerre de Zeus will close on November 7 before its transformation into Tonnerre 2 Zeus for 2022.

The famous wooden roller coaster will be renovated and enhanced over the winter so it will be closed during Noël Gaulois.

When the attraction reopens with a new name in spring 2022 it will include several new features and trains.


The Gravity Group
will renovate the wooden roller coaster Tonnerre de Zeus with changes to the track, a tunnel added and new trains.

Tonnerre de Zeus, the French for 'Thunder of Zeus', was originally built by Customer Coasters International with trains from Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters and opened in 1997.

New features:

  • A new 90 degree drop, unique in Europe
  • 2 new high speed bends
  • 2 new drops
  • 14 airtime moments
  • New trains from Gravitykraft with the seats reversed in the last row, allowing riders to experience the ride backwards!
  • A new tunnel with special effects
