Parc Astérix has revealed details of the new and improved roller coasters coming to the French theme park in 2022 and 2023.
The iconic Tonnerre de Zeus wooden roller coaster will be renovated and enhanced to become Tonnerre 2 Zeus in 2022.
In 2023, the theme park will debut a new themed area including Toutatis, the fastest roller coaster in France.
Tonnerre 2 Zeus (2022)
The Gravity Group will renovate the wooden roller coaster Tonnerre de Zeus with changes to the track, a tunnel added and new trains.
Tonnerre de Zeus, the French for 'Thunder of Zeus', was originally built by Customer Coasters International with trains from Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters and opened in 1997.
New features:
- A new 90 degree drop, unique in Europe
- 2 new high speed bends
- 2 new drops
- 14 airtime moments
- New trains from Gravitykraft with the seats reversed in the last row, allowing riders to experience the ride backwards!
- A new tunnel with special effects
Toutatis (2023)
In 2023, we will see the launch of Toutatis. The largest themed land at Parc Astérix will include the fastest roller coaster in France - 110 km/h and a world record breaking 23 moments of airtime.
This new multi-launch roller coaster from Intamin Amusement Rides will feature elements such as an Over-Banked Curve, Zero-G Stall, Top Hat, Vertical Spike and Barrel Roll.
