Construction is officially underway for a brand new themed area at BELANTIS, the popular family theme park near Leipzig, Germany.
A symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was recently held to mark the occasion, attended by Saxony's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection, Dirk Panter, alongside the BELANTIS Managing Director Filip De Witte, Park Director Martin Endruhn, and the iconic comic heroes Asterix and Obelix.
Set to open in 2027, the centrepiece of this new zone will be a family roller coaster manufactured by the German company Gerstlauer.

The attraction intends to strengthen the park's family offering while marking the next visible step in the destination's long term development. The new themed area will be constructed on the site currently known as the "Beach of the Gods", which will undergo a comprehensive redesign and thematic transformation.
A Tangible Vision for the Future
"With every new attraction, our vision for BELANTIS becomes a little more tangible," said Filip De Witte, Managing Director of BELANTIS. "The new themed area sends an important signal for the future of the destination and underlines our ambition to continue offering families new adventures and high quality experiences in the years to come."
Economic Affairs Minister Dirk Panter also commented on the region's broader growth. "The Leipzig New Lake District is becoming increasingly popular with tourists, while the city of Leipzig and its surrounding area continue to grow. It's very impressive to see what has been created here in recent years in the heart of a former open cast mining region."

The Road to Asterix Park Germany
This latest expansion forms part of a long term transformation process that began following the acquisition of BELANTIS by Compagnie des Alpes in 2025. In May 2026, Idéfix's Adventure Land became the first new themed area to open under this strategic vision. The rapid succession of these projects demonstrates a consistent pace of investment and growth by the park's new owners.
Ultimately, Compagnie des Alpes, in partnership with licensor Les Éditions Albert René, aims to transform BELANTIS into the first Asterix Park outside of France. By 2030 and 2031, the park is expected to have evolved entirely into the world of Asterix and Obelix, further establishing itself as Germany's leading family oriented leisure destination.
