Efteling has unveiled plans for its next major attraction, Missie Luminar, scheduled to open in 2029.

Representing a total investment of 50 million euros, this thrill ride will mark a significant milestone as the park's very first suspended launch coaster.

The new ride, believed to be a Vekoma Thrill Glider, will reach 80 km/h in just 123 seconds.

The Mission of the Century

Missie Luminar will invite guests to become "missionauts" on an extraordinary expedition. The adventure begins inside a scientific institute, where riders will receive their mission instructions. Seating 18 passengers per train, the vehicles hang directly below the track, setting the stage for a spectacular launch sequence.

The intense ride experience will last over two minutes, combining high speeds with surprising track elements and multiple moments of weightlessness. The narrative challenges riders to break the ultimate light barrier amidst an atmosphere themed around wondrous natural phenomena, scientific experiments, and 19th-century journeys of discovery.

A Unique Thrill for the Park

Fons Jurgens, Efteling’s CEO, expressed great enthusiasm for the upcoming addition:

"Missie Luminar will be a fantastic addition to our thrill ride line-up. This type of roller coaster is completely new for Efteling. The top speed goes up to 80 km/h, but it may feel even faster to you."

"It’s going to be unique and special, also because of the location. Missie Luminar is an addition to the theme area The Island of the Five Senses. Visitors will see the speeding vehicles as soon as they enter to start their day at Efteling. We’ll need to be patient a bit longer, but we’re already looking forward to the first reactions from our visitors."

Island of the Five Senses

The new coaster will be a prominent feature of the Island of the Five Senses, situated close to the park's main entrance. This vibrant themed zone already serves as a central hub for arrivals and departures, encompassing the House of the Five Senses, the Efteling Grand Hotel, the Efteling Theater, and the Aquanura water show. The addition of Missie Luminar will ensure that the very first view for arriving guests is one of high-speed adventure.
