One of Germany’s most beloved theme parks, formerly known as Holiday Park, has been transformed to become Plopsaland Deutschland.

After 52 years as Holiday Park, a new chapter as one of the leading family leisure resorts in Europe will begin, as owner and operator Plopsa further integrates the park with its wider portfolio.

This major rebranding is the first step in a multi-faceted transformation, which includes an investment of over €100 million that will introduce new attractions, themed areas and entertainment.

New Themed Areas and Attractions Now Open

The transformation of the park kicked off with the opening of the Blinky Bill zone in April 2025. This new area, inspired by the iconic Australian koala, introduced three family-friendly attractions for park visitors to enjoy.

Today, for the grand opening, new dark ride The Smurfs' Adventure will make its debut. This groundbreaking new attraction promises to be one of the most immersive family rides in Europe, featuring interactive elements and a captivating storyline set within a beautifully themed environment.

Also starting today, the Plopsa Festival will expand upon the daily live entertainment at the park. This new parade features popular characters from the Plopsa universe, such as Maya the Bee, Vicky the Viking, Heidi, Tabaluga, the Smurfs, and Blinky Bill. This parade promises to create an unforgettable atmosphere of fun and excitement for guests of all ages.

New Roller Coasters on the Horizon

In the autumn of 2025, the park will introduce a new family roller coaster from Gerstlauer based on the animated film 100% Wolf. 760 metres in length, this ride will offer an accessible, family-friendly experience, featuring detailed theming that adds a magical touch for visitors of all ages.

For those seeking more adrenaline, Plopsaland is also expanding the high-intensity offerings with a new roller coaster from Mack Rides, developed in collaboration with the renowned Tomorrowland festival. This innovative ride will introduce unique features never before seen in Germany, combining launch elements, rotating cars and inversions.

Enhancing the Resort Experience

Plopsa is also expanding its offerings with the construction of Plopsaqua Haßloch, a state-of-the-art water park set to open by early 2028. Located near the main theme park, the water park will feature multiple water slides, a wave pool, a pool bar, a lap pool, a children’s area, and a sauna and relaxation zone. The design will be inspired by popular characters, ensuring a fun and family-friendly atmosphere for all visitors.

The expansion of Plopsaland Deutschland also includes the creation of a partner hotel program, aimed at providing visitors with attractive accommodation packages for extended stays. This initiative will not only enhance the guest experience, but also provide a significant boost to regional tourism.

A New Era for the Park

Originally opening as Märchenpark Haßloch in 1970 and known as Holiday Park since 1973, the attraction has continuously evolved. Since its acquisition by the Plopsa Group in 2010, the park has become a home to beloved characters like Maya the Bee, Vicky the Viking, and Heidi. Now, as part of this major transformation, the park has been officially renamed Plopsaland Deutschland, ushering in a new chapter in its history.
