Festyland, the family theme park near Caen in Normandy, has announced an exciting new addition for the 2026 season: Valkyrie, a Vekoma Family Boomerang Coaster that will immerse guests in the world of the warrior maidens from Norse mythology.
Opening in spring 2026, Valkyrie represents a major investment of over €4 million and is set to become the park’s most ambitious project to date.
With an annual attendance of around 250,000 visitors, the new attraction marks a significant step forward in Festyland’s development as it continues to expand its offering for families.
A Mythological Adventure for All Ages
Inspired by the legendary Valkyries who once soared through stormy skies to guide fallen heroes to Valhalla, the new coaster invites riders on a journey into a world of ancient myths and atmospheric storytelling.
The thematic design has been entrusted to Morgan Fix Creative, who will bring the legend to life through its dramatic visual elements including drifting mist, rumbling thunder, and glowing runic symbols.
From the moment guests enter the queue, they will be surrounded by the striking ambience of a Norse saga, with the aim of creating an emotionally engaging experience that blends fantasy, folklore, and family-friendly thrills.
A New Vekoma Family Boomerang
Valkyrie will be a Family Boomerang Coaster manufactured by Vekoma, one of the world’s leading roller coaster designers. The attraction will feature:
-
460 metres of track
-
A height of 27 metres
-
Top speed exceeding 65 km/h
-
A 20-passenger train
As with all Family Boomerang models, the ride experience consists of a forward and backward journey along the same track, delivering dynamic yet accessible thrills suitable for a wide audience. The coaster will be located in the park’s Viking-themed area, making it a fitting addition to one of Festyland’s most atmospheric zones.
A Major Addition for the Normandy Theme Park
With Valkyrie, Festyland aims to offer an attraction that appeals to all generations, strengthening its position as a must-visit destination for families in northern France. The combination of storytelling, immersive theming, and modern ride technology is set to make Valkyrie a standout highlight of the 2026 season.
